The Children's Center of Brookline is seeking experienced educators with EEC certification to join our team this Summer!
This position works alongside a creative and experienced team of educators which includes, three full time team-teachers as well as 1-2 student teachers/interns. This is a full time (32-40 hours a week, 5 days a week) position.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be willing to work until at least 4:30pm daily.
- Be at least EEC teacher certified, Lead Teacher certified preferred.
- Have at least two years of classroom teaching experience with children ages 2yrs-5yrs.
- Have a solid foundational understanding of Child Development.
- Be committed to classroom management that prioritizes co-regulation
- Be passionate about classroom design.
- Be eager to curate an indoor and outdoor classroom(s).
- Be passionate about dramatic play!
- Be comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather.
- Be ready to work on a diverse team dedicated to collaboration, inclusivity and professional growth!
Knowledge of the below is NOT required, but is a huge PLUS:
- Reggio-inspired learning strategies.
- Forest school/Nature school outdoor education.
- Risky play.
- Trauma-informed classroom management.
- The project approach.
Currently this position is operating on the below schedule:
- Mondays 8am-4:30pm.
- Tuesdays 10am-4:30pm*.
- Wednesdays 8am-4:30pm.
- Thursdays 8am-4:30pm.
- Fridays 8am-4:30pm.
This schedule includes a 45-minute paid break daily, a minimum of 2 hours of protected plan time weekly* (up to 6 hours of plan time per month can be completed from home), an additional 2 hours per month of team-meeting time, an additional 2 hours per month of ALL Staff meeting time

Job Details:
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting students with a variety of needs and has an awareness of or willingness to integrate trauma-informed teaching into their everyday interactions with students both in a group and one-on one.
- This position does include shared day to day tasks including bathrooming, diapering, classroom maintenance, cleanliness, etc.
- This position includes preparing documentation, accurately completing child learning assessment and facilitating two annual parent-teacher conferences per year.
- This position includes curriculum delivery, planning, curating play spaces and presenting materials in a meaningful way.
- This position includes facilitating circle, sing-a-longs, Storytimes and community meetings.
- This position also requires continuity, confidence and the ability to model best practices in the field of early childhood education to student teachers, interns, and faculty with a wide and varied range of prior experience.
- The Children's center of Brookline adheres to the standards set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and draws inspiration from a variety of child-centered philosophies, such as NAEYC, Waldorf, Reggio-Emilia Inspired, Montessori and Project-based pedagogies.
