About the Job
The Children's Center of Brookline is seeking a reliable candidate with a love of children, play and the outdoors! Our Preschool Program is looking for additional support staff from 7:30am -12:30pm, to help with set up tasks, greeting children, and working as part of collaborative team! This position is ideal for parents, college students, and balances well with an out-of-school time positions or creative/performance careers. Candidates interested in additional hours could potentially have the option for a longer day on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be able to work Monday through Friday and arrive promptly at 7:30am each day.
- Have some experience working with young children, and an interest in becoming EEC Teacher certified.
- Those already certified, looking to become lead teacher certified are strongly encouraged to apply!
- Be passionate about children and play.
- Be enthusiastic, organized and self-motivated.
- Have an eye for detail, especially when it comes to cleanliness and safety.
- Be open to nature-based learning, active and risky play.
- Be eager to work in an outdoor classroom which operates outdoors year-round in ALL weather.
- Be ready to work on a diverse team dedicated to collaboration, inclusivity and professional growth!
- Be willing to step in if a team member is absent.
- Model best practices for our interns, student teachers and subs
Knowledge of the below is NOT required, but is a huge PLUS:
- Forest school/Nature school/outdoor education.
- Risky play.
- Trauma-informed classroom practices.
- Reggio-inspired, Montessori and Waldorf methods.

Job Details:
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting students with a variety of needs and has an awareness of or willingness to see all behavior as communication and prioritize community and relationships over compliance.
- This position does include shared day to day tasks including bath-rooming, diapering, classroom maintenance, cleanliness, etc.
- This position includes preparing some documentation with support from Team and Program Leaders.
- This position includes facilitating circle, sing-a-longs, Storytimes and community meetings, with support and training from team and program leader.
- This position also requires continuity, confidence and the ability to model best practices in the field of early childhood education to peers, student teachers, interns, and faculty with a wide and varied range of prior experience.
- The Children's center of Brookline adheres to the standards set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and draws inspiration from a variety of child-centered philosophies, such as NAEYC, Waldorf, Reggio-Emilia Inspired, Montessori and Project-based pedagogies.

The Children’s Center is a year-round program.
Though this position is intended to begin in August 2026, we would be open to an earlier start for the right candidate!
